Why not just make it one country with superb diversity and progress? I don't understand why the US especially persists in feeling we need to support a country that exists primarily to assuage consciences and to preserve a religion. We ought to be supporting countries that are non-discriminatory, diverse and thoroughly democratic. That's not Israel.
